Hello and welcome to Esha – People for the Blind.

Esha was established on 5th January, 2005.

We are a group of volunteers who believe in an inclusive world, and support that mission through our small actions.

Our Areas of Work

We work on the following verticals:

A. Knowledge Democracy

Ensuring Equitable, On-Demand Access to knowledge for everyone.

Under this, we curate an online audio resource in Indian languages – www.clabil.org/audio.php

The resource currently has content in 23 Indian languages. All of this content has been recorded by volunteers.

Esha facilitates this content generation through the Summer Project and Read Fests.

B. Sensitisation towards the needs of the differently abled

We believe that people are not exclusive by design. We do not want to leave other people behind. But inclusion is not part of our public conversations.

Through engaging formats like Theater, Blind Walks, Open Braille sessions, Esha works to make inclusion mainstream and “normal”.

This is crucial because an inclusive policy needs an inclusive public. We believe that a sensitised populace is extremely important if we want to create an inclusive society.

Esha also conducts national research projects and makes the reports freely available for all stakeholders.
